Sciences of the Czech Republic (Prague)
1973 - Graduated from Ural State University, Ekaterinburg, Russia and worked at
Permanent Magnets Laboratory of this university till 1995 as junior, senior, leading (from
1989) researcher.
1979 - PhD Thesis "Magnetic Properties and Crystal Structure of Some Uranium
Intermetallics".
1990 - Dissertation of Doctor of Sciences "Magnetoelastic and Magnetic
Properties of Rare-earth and Uranium Intermetallics".
1981-82 - 1-year stay at Department of Metal Physics, Charles University, Prague.
1990-91 - 1-year stay at Van der Waals-Zeeman Laboratory, University of Amsterdam.
1992-93 - 1-year stay at Institute for Solid State Physics, University of Tokyo.
1997-98 - 1-year stay at Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University,
Sendai.
1 monograph, 210 papers and 12 patents.
Invited speaker at 9 international conferences, including ICM (Warsaw, 1994).
From 1991 - member of International Advisory Board of the Journal of Alloys and Compounds.

1. Magnetic properties of new rare-earth and actinide intermetallic compounds.
2. Spontaneous magnetostriction of rare-earth and actinide intermetallic compounds.
3. Magnetic properties of metallic hydrides.
4. Hard magnetic materials and technology of rare-earth permanent magnets.
