PRF 020 - Introduction to programming in MATLAB

Lecture is intended for students of physics with preliminary knowledge of numerical methods. The topics of the course are:

  1. basic conception of programming in the MATLAB environment,
  2. functions for input and output,
  3. internal and external functions,
  4. matrix operations,
  5. numerical derivatives and integration methods,
  6. cycles and
  7. operation with complex variables.

The capability of the MATLAB environment is illustrated on the following applications: polynomial regression, splines, linear and non-linear least squares method, Fourier transformation, convolution and de-convolution and solution of the partial differential equations. Graphical utilities in two and three dimensions are demonstrated as well.
