The philosophy of the single-crystal structure determination industry has changed completely with the advent of affordable real-time electronic area detectors. For several years in macro-molecular crystallography it has been accepted that a high power source and an area detector were necessary for data collection.

In small-molecule crystallography the traditional serial diffractometer has been the instrument of choice because of it's success, simplicity and relatively low cost. Modern chemistry, however, requires results more and more quickly from poorer and poorer samples and in order to satisfy this need an affordable 2-D detector based techniques are necessary. Nonius pioneered this field of area detector based data collection with the real-time NoniusFAST system and gained much success, certainly taking into account the high price-tag at that time. We are therefore pleased to present the NoniusKappaCCD systems, more affordable and low noise solutions, that exhibit an even higher sensitivity.

For the ordinary sample the NoniusKappaCCD allows obtaining data sets in an extremely small fraction of the time required with a serial diffractometer system. The ability to produce data sets of very small samples routinely in 1 or 2 hours now provides the chemist with a unique analytical tool, one that can compete both in speed and details obtained with all other analytical techniques used in modern chemistry laboratories. The NoniusKappaCCD enables you to determine from a few micro-grams of sample molecular constitution, connectivity, conformational analysis data, absolute configurations, and many others with better precision and reliability than any other analytical tool. Of even greater importance, however, is the fact that with the NoniusKappaCCD one may obtain results from samples, which were simply intractable previously because of either sample instability, size or poor crystallinity. The new generation of instruments is here and the NoniusKappaCCD's offer the best solution, in terms of ease of operation, performance and flexibility.

Also for macro molecular crystallography a NoniusKappaCCD-solution, in combination with its FR591 rotating anode generator, now offers many interesting advantages.
