ON THE GEOMETRY OF A MODERN IMAGING DIFFRACTOMETER

The geometry of a modern imaging diffractometer is discussed in detail. Model of a kappa goniometer equipped with a planar position-sensitive detector is developed. All the necessary crystallographic calculations algorithms are formulated.

The method to find all relevant instrument parameters from the standard single crystal measurement is proposed and the limitations of such a procedure are indicated. Optimization of the set of model parameters by the least-squares method is presented.
