APPLICATIONS OF A NEW COMPACT HIGH BRIGHTNESS SOURCE FOR CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC STUDIES OF INORGANIC AND BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS

Dr Graham Fraser

Microsource, a Division of Bede Scientific Instruments, Durham, England, UK

A description will be given of the design and fabrication of a new type of X-ray generator utilising specularly reflecting mirrors. The goal of this design is to achieve a performance in the same range as rotating anode generators, but in a more compact unit and with lower power consumption. A report will be given on the progress towards these goals and examples will be given of diffraction data obtained from a variety of different materials.
