Investigation of the pyridine hydrochloride - molybdenic acid - water system has been performed and few pyridinium molybdates have been isolated [1]. One of them; pyridinium tetramolybdate (C5H5N)2 Mo4O13 (very briefly described in literature [2]) crystallises as very fine powder and can be characterised by powder diffraction method only.

The pyridinium tetramolybdate crystallises in orthorhombic system with lattice parameters: a=15.421, b=18.999, c=7.646 A, V=2240.17 A3. Results of crystal structure studies based on conventional powder data will be presented and compared with the results of complementary techniques e.g. IR, RS, DTG.
