GSAS Distribution kit You should have a self-extracting executable file, gsaskit.exe, containing the distribution materials for GSAS. REVISED 12/8/97 for new version of GSAS with PGPLOT graphics. I will assume in the following that your computer has a single hard disk c:, use a different disk designations if needed. To install GSAS: 1. mkdir c:\gsas 2. cd gsas 3. move gsaskit.exe to c:\gsas 4. do "gsaskit -d" This is conviently done in a DOS window or from the start menu, do not just click on gsaskit.exe. Do not forget the -d option as it is required to correctly form the gsas directory structure. 5. edit the autoexec.bat file: add c:\gsas\exe to the path add SET PGPLOT_FONT=C:\gsas\fonts\grfont.dat add SET GSAS=C:\GSAS (this is only needed to use the QBASIC driven GSAS shell) 6. (WIN95) move either gsas desktop shortcut to the desktop. You may have to modify the properties of this file if you installed gsas on a hard disk other than C: 7. reboot computer to effect changes to autoexec.bat file GSAS is ready for use. In DOS, set the directory to where you want to work and then simply type "gsas". For Windows 3.1x, open an MS-DOS window and then follow the directions for DOS. In WIN95 click on the desktop icon for gsas; use the MS-DOS and ch. dir. options to go to your working directory. The desktop icon (PC-GSAS) is a Windows compliant routine with pull down menus and a dialog box for experiment file selection.
