A microsymposium of the crystallographic use of synchrotron radiation was organised by Drs. J.Hrdy and A. Kvick was at the ECM-18 meeting in Prague. Six invited speakers gave overview talks in their various fields of expertise. Dr. Z.Dauter reviewed the Macromolecular Applications, Dr.C.Vettier discussed Magnetic X-Ray Scattering, Dr. D.E. Cox dealt with Powder Diffraction Aspects, Dr.I.Snigireva reviewed and discussed new developments in Microfocussing Optics for hard X-rays and Dr. W.Clegg illustrated the impact of synchrotron radiation in Single-Crystal Studies of Supramolecular Chemistry. A planned talk on High-Pressure Studies by Dr.D.Hausermann was moved for organisational reasons to a different microsymposium. All talks were very well prepared and gave excellent reviews of the respective fields as well as gave examples of the frontier experiments. The microsymposium was very well attended by between 150 and 200 participants. Lively discussions followed the talks.
